How to create V Kontakte ads to find believers

Another great way to use Face Book ads is to find out if there are believers who attend your university or if there are other student believers in your city or area.  Finding these believers would be not only a great encouragement to you, but they are potential fellow-laborers in building spiritual movements on your campus! 

First, think about what kind of student you want to have respond to your ad. What is it you want them to respond to?  Perhaps you are looking for student believers who want to come together to pray for lost students on your campus and on other campuses in your city.  Think through what you could say in your ad to attract Christian students to come together to pray.  I think it is a great idea to attract students who will want to join you in reaching your campus…think through what you could put on an ad to cause those types of Christians to reply to your ad.

Setting up an ad to find believers on your campus is very easy.  Marilyn Adamson has mapped out how to run a ad on Facebook.

A very important tip:

Use very specific language for Christians when setting up your ad.  Use ‘Jesus’ rather than God as some friends of ours set up an ad asking, ‘Do you love God?  Do you want others on your campus to know Him too?’ and had people from other faiths respond to their ad.  You are looking for Christians, so don’t be afraid to use Christian language.  It will be a very good first ‘filter’ for your ad and should limit the responders to just Christians.

Many of you want to use the opportunity you have with your Facebook or V Kontakte friends to draw them into spiritual conversation.  I know that most of you are doing this very well.  For others of you who have the desire to engage your friends into deeper conversations about having a relationship with God, it might seem a little bit awkward to bring up conversations that they may not be expecting.

everystudent.com / mirstudentov.com ideas

In the next few weeks I want to share some ideas for having spiritual conversations with your friends on V Kontakte and Facebook and for how you can easily expose your entire campus (or expose all students in your city or region) to the gospel.  Much of what I will suggest is connected to our evangelistic site, mirstudentov.com /everystudentcom .  In case you are unfamiliar with that site I would suggest that you check it out.  Below is part of a blog I sent out in 2009 which gives an overview of this site:

www.mirstudentov.com (www.everystudent.com) is an evangelistic website hosted by New Life/Campus Crusade for Christ.  It is a place where non-believing students can go to ask questions about God.  New Life/Campus Crusade for Christ staff immediately get back to the students with answers to their questions.  Also on the site are a number of articles non-believers are generally interested in on various topics which prayerfully lead students to consider the spiritual impact of these topics in their lives.

Ninety-nine point five (99,5) percent of the students on your campus are not believers.  That’s an overwhelming number.  Most of them will never have a friendship with a believer who can help them to know more about having a personal relationship with Christ.  www.mirstudentov.com (www.everystudent.com) is one easy strategy to easily expose a large number of non-believers to Jesus. 

Some ways you could use www.mirstudentov.com (www.everystudent.com):

o   print out some flyers or business cards and hand them out to every student you see. 

o   print up some posters and place around your campus every day.  Don’t get discouraged if the posters don’t stay up for very long, just make it a plan to put up a new poster every day as you go to class. 

o   if you live in a dormitory make a big sign to put on the door to your room or in your window advertising the site.

o   if you use в контакте or Facebook to connect with nonbelievers, this is a great link to send your friends to as well.

In order to make the gospel known to all the students on your campus you will have to use a variety of strategies – some relational strategies (such as CoJourners) help you help those close to you understand about salvation.  Other strategies (such as www.mirstudentov.com / www.everystudent.com) help you “sow broadly” to those with whom you will never have personal conversations.  I think this website could be a great help to you in connecting nonbelievers with others who could help to direct them to Christ.  And it’s easy!

Think like a leader!

When I was new in leading a team, someone once said to me, “If you want to be a leader – start thinking like a leader.”  “What on earth does a leader think about?!” I asked myself.  Since I’m not a natural leader,  I put myself to work in learning what a leader thinks about.

I learned that a leader often turns to questions to help him evaluate whether or not he is on the right track.  He asks himself how the people he works with are doing.  He asks himself about the health of the ministry… I began compiling a list of questions and printed them out and kept them in my notebook.  As I did my weekly planning, I took out the list and chose which questions to give special attention to that week. 

Perhaps you might want to do something similar.  You can check out my list of Movement Questions to help get you started if you like.  This list is most definitely not a complete list – I keep adding to it and have compiled other lists as well (in the near future I will send you another list of questions focused on planning).

Simply learning to think like a leader is a great skill, but without reliance on the Lord to guide your thinking, your discoveries will just be the thoughts of man. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to consider as you look over your list.  Go to Him with an open mind – if He leads you in questions that aren’t on the list, be flexible to go where He leads your think.   He will direct you in your thinking as a leader.
